Nutritionist Galina Kazantseva: beef has more iron, but pork puts less strain on the liver.

Nutritionist Galina Kazantseva shared her professional opinion on which meat is healthier for the body – pork or beef. According to the specialist, some characteristics of these types of meat are practically the same, although there is a stereotype that beef is less fatty and healthier.

“The content of proteins and fats in these types of meat is practically the same,” Zhivaya Kuban quotes Kazantseva as saying.
The nutritionist added that the specific chemical composition of proteins and fats makes pork a meat that is easier to digest and compared to other types. In addition, if you eat pork that is not too fatty, the liver is less strained.

“Eating pork puts less strain on the liver. This, however, does not apply to parts such as ribs and neck,” the expert clarified.
Speaking about other advantages of this type of meat, Kazantseva noted that pork is preferable as a source of vitamin B3, which is important for the health of the nervous system. It also contains a lot of selenium, which promotes good skin condition, the production of thyroid hormones, and cell renewal.

At the same time, people with anemia, many women, should lean on beef – it contains more iron than pork. Beef is also a champion in terms of zinc, sodium, magnesium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and vitamin B4.

In your diet, you can thus alternate between different types of meat, as well as generally eat a variety of protein sources.
