In an interview with nutritionist Alexei Kabanov, vegetable oils were generally called beneficial to human health. Kabanov noted that without getting fat, the human body is not able to function normally, and vegetable oils give it the most useful types of fats in the form of unsaturated fatty acids. Thanks to their use, the level of “bad” cholesterol, and with it the risk of diseases of the cardiovascular system, decreases.

At the same time, the nutritionist emphasized that none of the oils is preferable, including the famous olive oil.According to Kabanov, the inclusion of olive oil in the diet is recommended in cases of pre-diabetes, type II diabetes, as a product that helps reduce sugar levels and fight inflammation. But sunflower oil (unrefined) is not inferior in its benefits to olive oil, the doctor believes.

“Due to aggressive advertising and marketing efforts, a false perception has developed in society about the superiority of olive oil. In fact, this is not the case: vegetable oils, like vegetable products, as a rule, complement each other,” the specialist explained.
Kabanov said that sunflower oil contains many vitamins, including vitamin E. In addition, it is a source of valuable omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Olive oil is a source of omega-9 mmonunsaturated fatty acids. That is why these oils should alternate in the diet.
