Nutritionist Veronika Gusakova: eating garlic minimizes the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Nutritionist Gusakova said that garlic is one of the so-called “superfoods” (products with a very wide range of beneficial properties). In particular, the spicy vegetable is useful for preventing blood clots and heart disease.

“The active components of garlic improve blood circulation, preventing the formation of blood clots, which minimizes the risk of cardiovascular disease,” the specialist noted in a comment to NEWS.ru.
Gusakova specified that one of the substances in garlic is allicin, an antioxidant with antiviral and antifungal properties. As a result of allicin's effect on the body, inflammation decreases, which reduces the likelihood of many pathological processes. Thus, when consuming garlic, a person becomes better protected from the accumulation of cholesterol and the development of atherosclerosis, as well as age-related problems with the brain.

“Allicin affects the blood vessels of the brain, and as a result of its use, the processes of age-related memory loss in older people slow down,” the nutritionist explained.
Gusakova added that garlic is a product that helps women maintain beauty and youth. Being a rich source of antioxidants, it helps protect cells from damage, which in turn slows down the aging process. In addition, by improving blood circulation in the body, garlic has a beneficial effect on the condition of the skin and hair.

Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that eating currants improves intestinal protection from tumors.
