Dietitian Yevgeny Arzamastsev: pumpkin seeds are especially useful for the elderly.

Nutritionist Arzamastsev advised older Russians to include pumpkin seeds in their diet. One of the advantages of this product is the stimulating effect on the intestines. It is no secret that gastrointestinal motility weakens in old age – in turn, the fiber contained in pumpkin seeds improves intestinal motility.

In addition, many older people begin to suffer from vascular problems – an increased accumulation of cholesterol in them, development of atherosclerosis. Pumpkin seeds prevent these negative processes.

“Pumpkin seeds contain a lot of useful fatty acids that help to influence the lipid spectrum and the formation of atherosclerotic plaques, reducing their growth,” Evgeny Arzamastsev told Moscow 24.
The doctor added that such seeds are a rich source of such trace elements as zinc and silicon.
