According to nutritionist Federica Amati, proper nutrition, which becomes a way of life, helps to increase life expectancy.

Nutritionist Amati said that By starting to eat right at age 40, you can extend your life by a decade.

“If you start eating right at 40, you can live ten years longer,” she was quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.
In particular, Amati believes that consuming natural, unprocessed plant foods helps prolong life. For those who want to achieve this, the nutritionist recommended eating fruits, greens, vegetables, legumes, nuts and seeds. What is also important is that in your daily diet you should adhere to general dietary recommendations: avoid overeating, control the amount of salt, added sugar, trans fats, saturated animal fat. Eating in accordance with these criteria should be a system practiced on an ongoing basis, the doctor emphasized.

According to the nutritionist, one of the most effective ways to increase life expectancy is to eat in accordance with the Mediterranean diet. The expert stated that thanks to such nutrition, you can gain an additional ten to eleven years of life.

Amati added that the diet of a mature person should be different from how he ate in his youth. As we approach aging, the body begins to develop and increase insulin resistance, making us susceptible to obesity and associated diseases. The nutritionist stated that in adulthood it is important to monitor the consumption of simple carbohydrates, as well as whether the body receives enough diverse nutrients.

“After 40, you need to carefully choose your diet. Every meal should contain protein: this can be beans, lentils, fatty fish, eggs and other foods. The main rule is that foods must be nutritious for the body,” concluded Amati.
