Nutrition expert Dmitry Bystrov: carrots, which are healthy in many ways, are contraindicated for some people.

Expert Bystrov told RIA Novosti about the properties of carrots. According to the specialist, this modest, inexpensive root vegetable has many advantages. In particular, it is one of the most accessible sources of antioxidants that prevent rapid aging of the body and diseases associated with inflammation.

“Carrots contain antioxidants that help fight oxidative stress and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. They also contain a lot of fiber, which promotes healthy digestion, and are low in calories,” the specialist shared.
Another plus of carrots is their richness in vitamin A, which is important for the immune system, as well as potassium, a microelement necessary for the proper functioning of the cardiovascular system.

At the same time, carrots may be contraindicated for consumption. For example, the richness of potassium makes this vegetable forbidden for people with kidney disease. In addition, carrots may not be suitable for nutrition if you have problems with high blood glucose.

“Despite the low glycemic index, carrots contain sugar,” Bystrov reminded.
The expert emphasized that even healthy people should control the portions of carrot dishes. This is especially true for boiled vegetables. After cooking, the glycemic index of carrots increases sharply.

Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that butter can be quite useful for weight loss.
