“It's enough to eat a banana a day”: Doctor Khoroshev named a way to save yourself from a heart attack and stroke

Neurologist Pavel Khoroshev explained why it is useful to eat one banana every day.

Doctor Khoroshev named a simple way to save yourself from a heart attack and stroke – to do this, you should eat bananas. The doctor explained the ability of bananas to resist the development of cardiovascular catastrophes by their high content of potassium – a trace element that is essential for the activity of the heart muscle.

The human body does not produce potassium on its own – it can only receive it from outside (primarily with food). In hot weather or with heavy sweating, the body loses potassium to a very significant extent along with evaporating moisture. Other circumstances that cause intense fluid loss can also contribute to the occurrence of potassium deficiency. With its significant shortage, the risk of high blood pressure, heart attack and stroke increases sharply.

According to Khoroshev, eating bananas is a simple and very effective way to replenish the necessary level of potassium in the body.

“You can compensate for potassium in the body with the help of bananas, that is, eat one banana a day. If people knew this, thousands of Russian lives would be saved from heart attacks and strokes every year. It is enough to eat one banana a day to forget about this problem,” the neurologist stated in a commentary to Radio 1.
Signs of potassium deficiency. These include:

  • Muscle weakness;
  • Palpitations and other heart dysfunctions;
  • Poor concentration;
  • Tendency to constipation.
