Nutritionist Elena Solomatina: honey should not be consumed on an empty stomach without eating anything.

Doctor Solomatina believes that honey should be consumed with caution, it is an unsafe product if you have diabetes, insulin resistance or are overweight. The nutritionist noted that only healthy and physically active people can consume honey daily, and in quantities of no more than two tablespoons.

“It cannot be considered the best substitute for sugar. Honey is also quite high in calories and increases blood glucose levels. Plus, we must not forget that it is also an allergenic product,” the doctor reminded in an interview with Moscow 24.
Elena Solomatina shared the peculiarities of eating honey. According to her, it is preferable to eat the delicacy separately or with tea, strictly not hot, since honey releases unwanted substances when heated. If honey is eaten on an empty stomach, then after about 20 minutes you must definitely have a snack so as not to harm the pancreas.

You should not eat honey with white bread – this combination becomes too significant a carbohydrate load on the body, contributes to sharp jumps in blood glucose.

“The best option for combining honey is any whole grain products (bread, cereals). You can also add it to cottage cheese or eat it with a baked apple: they will restrain a sharp rise in blood sugar levels,” the nutritionist advised.
