Gynecologist Lyudmila Ustinova told which products help to fight thrush.

Many women know firsthand about thrush – a fungal disease of the mucous membranes. It is also known as candidiasis.
Gynecologist Ustinova reminded that the causative agent of the disease, a fungus of the genus Candida, is present in the microflora of the genitals, but when the immune system functions normally, the fungus does not pose a threat, since it does not have the opportunity to multiply. If the body's defenses are reduced, the fungus is activated and multiplies uncontrollably – this is how candidiasis (thrush) develops.

Speaking about ways to combat the development of thrush, the doctor advised adding certain foods to the diet. For example, Ustinova noted, yogurts and fermented milk drinks will be useful in the fight against thrush.

“A balanced diet will help reduce the risk of candidiasis,” the gynecologist continues. “There are a number of foods that stop the growth of fungi,” the gynecologist said in a comment to the Doctor Peter portal.
Foods that are useful for preventing thrush:

  • Yogurts and fermented milk drinks;
  • Garlic and red pepper;
  • Grapefruit juice;
  • Cranberry and lingonberry fruit drinks;
  • Propolis.

The doctor recommended that those who often experience thrush stop eating foods such as yeast baked goods, fast carbohydrates, and blue cheese.

Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that nutritionist Dmitry Semiryadov named foods that can be very effective in reducing the risk of cancer.
