Gastroenterologist Ekaterina Kashukh explained which bread is best to eat and how to store it properly.

Gastroenterologist Kashukh said that in order to maintain health, it is preferable to eat whole grain bread, which is made from unrefined grain. Such bread gives the body fiber, B vitamins, magnesium, selenium, iron and other trace elements important for its active functioning. Its use is considered useful in terms of preventing heart and vascular diseases, as well as excess weight (whole grain products help you feel full longer and better control your appetite).

The expert also called rye bread useful – rye flour contains fiber, iron, magnesium, amino acids.

For those who are afraid to eat bread because of the risk of gaining unnecessary kilograms, Ekaterina Kashukh advised not to exclude the product from the diet, but instead to plan their diet wisely.

“Eating bread every day is not prohibited, the main thing is that the diet as a whole is varied and includes other food groups, then bread will fit into it without harm to health – in the amount of 1-2 slices,” she shared in a comment to Life.ru.
In order for bread to stay fresh and nutritious longer, it is important to store it properly, the doctor emphasized. She said that the best way to store bread is to place it in a cool, dry place in a sealed bag or bread bin to prevent it from drying out.

“If there is too much bread, you can freeze it. In the freezer, bread retains its texture and nutritional properties. For freezing, it is better to cut it into portions so that it is easy to take out. It is recommended to defrost bread at room temperature so that it retains its dense texture and taste. After defrosting, you can warm it up a little in the microwave,” the doctor recommended.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote about how whole grain bread differs from regular bread.
