Nutritionist Mikhail Ginzburg specified which four groups of products are most effective in reducing high cholesterol.
Nutritionist Ginzburg named foods for reducing high cholesterol in an interview with Vechernyaya Moskva.
“There are four groups of products that normalize blood composition,” he said about such food.
The expert attributed foods rich in dietary fiber (otherwise, cellulose) to the first group. Mikhail Ginzburg explained: dietary fiber is not digested, but when it enters the intestines, it binds bile acids there, preventing them from being absorbed. Then they naturally leave the body.
This group consists of cereals, vegetables, fruits, and greens.
Another category of products that help reduce high cholesterol is fermented milk products. According to the nutritionist, such food, due to the content of lactic acid bacteria, has a beneficial effect on the activity of intestinal microflora, which helps normalize the processes of fat absorption.
Another group is legumes. Ginzburg noted that they not only contain a lot of dietary fiber, but are also rich in specific protein. This composition makes these products effective fighters against high cholesterol.
Also, to normalize the level of fat components and cholesterol in the blood, the nutritionist advises eating foods with omega-3 fatty acids: fatty fish, vegetable oils (for example, flaxseed). Omega-3 helps balance the lipid composition of the blood due to its anti-inflammatory effect.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that healthy fats should be consumed during breakfast, this advice was shared by endocrinologist Elena Ostrovskaya.
