Nutritionist Alexey Kalinchev: soups in the diet of overweight people can contribute to unnecessary overeating.

Doctor Kalinchev shared his professional opinion on the benefits of eating soups.

“Clinically, when a child or an adult eats soup for lunch, their digestion is better,” Kalinchev noted in an interview with Radio 1.
He added that the presence of soups in the diet of a person with gastritis and pancreatitis helps to reduce the incidence of exacerbation of such diseases. The expert emphasized: first of all, a dish such as soup is recommended for the prevention and treatment of these pathologies.

Doctor Kalinchev advised not to eat soups if you are overweight or obese. According to him, soup does not provide people with this problem with adequate nutrition and creates a false sense of satiety, which provokes unnecessary additional snacks.

“Soup creates a false sense of satiety, like drinking water instead of a full meal. Saturation comes quickly, as a result of which less healthy food is consumed. Soon hunger returns, and people begin to “snack”, constantly snacking,” the specialist explained.
Thus, the doctor summarized, soups are indicated for consumption by people with exacerbation of gastrointestinal diseases and children. For others, if they do not want to eat them, it is not necessary, and if they are overweight, it is potentially harmful. At the same time, the specialist clarified, children should not be forced to eat soup against their will, so as not to form a feeling of disgust for this dish.
