Diet food expert Artem Veris: too much sugar in the daily diet can lead to premature aging and health problems.

Expert Veris said in an interview: to avoid obesity, you should consume the same number of calories that the body consumes during the day. At the same time, the daily menu should be balanced in terms of the content of such components as proteins, fats and carbohydrates.

“If there are too many carbohydrates, including sugar, excess calories will turn into fat, and weight will increase,” stated Artem Veris in an interview with Gazeta.Ru.
The expert warned that sugar eaten in excess contributes to the development of type 2 diabetes. This is due to the fact that the elevated glucose level, formed due to the constant excess of sugar eaten, provokes intensive production of insulin (the hormone responsible for the distribution of glucose in cells), leading to the emergence of insulin resistance.

Doctor Gerasimova called allowable amount of sugar per day

“If glucose surges occur frequently, a person may experience metabolic disorders and a decrease in cell sensitivity to insulin. Loss of sensitivity to this hormone eventually gives rise to the development of type 2 diabetes,” said the specialist.
Also, added Artem Veris, sugar eaten in excess contributes to premature aging. Under its influence, there is a modification of elastin and collagen, which are the building materials of body tissues. The consequence of this, for example, is the withering of the skin, which loses its elasticity and firmness, becomes covered with wrinkles.
