Endocrinologist and nutritionist Oksana Mikhaleva: eggs in varying quantities are useful for almost everyone.

Doctor Mikhaleva stated: eggs cannot be classified as harmful products. According to the doctor, the protein of a boiled egg is almost completely absorbed by the human body and contains proteins necessary for the immune system. In particular, the habit of eating eggs for breakfast helps people get sick less often.

“Egg whites contain proteins with all the essential amino acids that are necessary for the formation of specific proteins in our bodies to build body cells. They are also needed for immunity, protection against various diseases,” the doctor explained to Izvestia.
Mikhaleva emphasized that cooked eggs are suitable for consumption – their protein is not digestible in raw form and can even be harmful, overloading the gastrointestinal tract.

Egg yolks are also healthy, despite their cholesterol content, the expert added. According to Mikhaleva, the cholesterol in the yolk of a chicken egg is balanced by other healthy fats – when they are consumed, the so-called “bad” cholesterol does not form in the body. In addition, the yolks contain lecithin, which is necessary for protecting cell membranes and preventing many dangerous diseases, as well as lutein and zeaxanthin, which protect against age-related vision loss, and choline – a substance that, along with lecithin, ensures the proper functioning of the nervous system and strengthens the health of the brain.

“Eggs contain a large amount of vitamins A and D and beta-carotene. The latter is a precursor of vitamin A and is necessary for the normal condition of the skin, hair, nails, eyes, blood vessels and bones. In addition, beta-carotene is a powerful antioxidant, so it protects our cells from vascular atherosclerosis, diabetes and cancer,” the specialist added.
How many eggs can you eat? Mikhaleva said that a healthy person is recommended to eat from four to seven a week; people with high cholesterol – from two to four.
