Drinking a lot of water doesn't help you lose weight

Scientists have concluded that claims about the great benefits of water in losing weight are not true.

Scientific experts representing Aston University , recalled the existing opinion regarding the benefits of water in losing excess weight. You can often hear that drinking enough water allows you to develop a slimmer figure – this is due to the fact that thanks to water, calories are burned more actively and appetite decreases.

But scientists have stated that such qualities of water are a myth. Drinking large amounts of water does not help you lose weight.

In one trial, volunteers drank an additional 500 ml – taking it actually accelerated the fat burning process: resting energy expenditure increased by almost 24 percent. But the metabolic boost lasted only an hour, and the calories lost were replaced by a small amount of food (like a quarter of a cookie).

“The actual net increase in calories burned from water is negligible,” the experts found.
According to another trial Drinking water before meals helped middle-aged and elderly people lose up to two kilograms, but did not have the same effect in younger people. These results still need to be double-checked.
