Doctor Andrei Tyazhelnikov shared advice on how to consume honey so that it benefits your health.

Honey is not just an addition to your assortment of sweets. Being natural and high-quality, it can effectively support your immune system and improve your body's defenses against diseases – Doctor Tyazhelnikov said this in an interview with RIA Novosti. In particular, he noted that honey is a probiotic product containing bacteria that are beneficial for the intestinal tract. For example, it contains lactobacilli and bifidobacteria.

In addition, honey is a source of vitamins and microelements: when consumed, the body receives a number of B vitamins and vitamin C, as well as calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, and zinc.

“The product is rich in antioxidants: flavonoids and organic acids, which help reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, reduce inflammation in the body, and enhance the body’s defenses,” Andrey Tyazhelnikov said.
But the doctor warned: if used incorrectly, honey loses its beneficial properties. The expert advised against adding honey to hot drinks.

“At temperatures above 40 degrees, honey loses its beneficial properties,” he emphasized.
Tyazhelnikov added that it is preferable to consume this product fresh or by adding it to a previously cooled, warm drink.

Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote about how much coffee you need to drink for it to benefit your brain.
