“Watermelon has a high glycemic index, and it is recommended to exclude it from the diet of patients suffering from diabetes mellitus and other disorders of carbohydrate metabolism,” Taradeeva commented.
Given the high carbohydrate load of watermelon, even healthy people should not consume it in large quantities – not you need to eat more than 500 grams per day, the doctor emphasized. In addition, along with watermelon, you should not eat other carbohydrate-rich foods – cookies, crackers, bread, sweet yogurts.
