Dietician Elena Solomatina advised including high-quality chocolate in the diet after 50 years.

The specialist said: chocolate with a 70 percent cocoa level can provide the body with many antioxidants, for example, in the form of polyphenols and resveratrol. According to Solomatina, chocolate improves protection against vascular diseases after 50 years due to the action of its antioxidant components – they reduce the body’s susceptibility to inflammation and atherosclerosis.

“Chocolate thins the blood and prevents the development of vascular diseases,” the doctor shared with Vechernaya Moscow.”
Solomatina added that the positive effect of chocolate also extends to the immune system. In addition, dark chocolate contains a high dose of magnesium, which has a beneficial effect on the nervous system, as well as bones, hair, teeth, and nails. The presence of magnesium in chocolate makes this product useful for maintaining balanced blood pressure – the microelement helps to dilate blood vessels, which prevents blood pressure from increasing.

“A piece of chocolate should be slowly dissolved in the mouth, and not chewed. This way, the feeling of fullness comes faster, and the body receives all the benefits from the product,” advised doctor Solomatina.
