Therapist Irina Nikulina named the advantage of sunflower oil over olive oil.
Olive oil has a reputation as an extremely healthy product, but the “modest” and more affordable sunflower oil may even be preferable – this was said by doctor Nikulina on the set of the program “About the Most Important Thing”.
The doctor noted that the advantage of sunflower oil is its richness in vitamin E – one tablespoon covers 30 percent of its daily requirement for the body. In terms of vitamin E content, sunflower oil is superior to the famous olive oil, Nikulina stated.
“Vitamin E is known for being responsible for the health and youth of the skin, for its elasticity and good color. Sunflower oil contains 2.5-3 times more vitamin than olive oil.”
The doctor added that vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant – a substance that suppresses oxidative stress, which underlies the body's inflammatory reactions. It is inflammation that often turns out to be a factor in the development of serious pathologies, including cardiovascular diseases, autoimmune diseases, cancer, and psychoemotional disorders. Consuming sunflower oil provides good support for the immune system and helps prevent these problems, the doctor said.
What else is useful about sunflower oil:
- It contains more than 80% monounsaturated fatty acids, which help control cholesterol levels;
- It is rich not only in vitamin E, but also in vitamin A, which acts as an antioxidant, stimulating the regeneration of damaged cells;
- It is well digested and absorbed in the digestive tract, while it has laxative properties, which prevents constipation.
