Alexander Myasnikov reminded Russians that there are foods that stimulate the development of inflammation, and foods that protect against it.

Doctor Myasnikov said that inflammation is a consequence of oxidative stress – the process of destruction of body cells by free radicals.

“Free radicals are at the heart of a lot of diseases – heart disease, cancer, autoimmune diseases, including multiple sclerosis, dementia, in particular Alzheimer's disease. Oxidative stress plays a fundamental role in this,” explained the famous physician.
Dr. Myasnikov added that the body’s susceptibility to inflammation largely depends on a person’s diet. When certain foods are consumed, the number of inflammatory markers increases.

The specialist clarified that fried potatoes and dumplings are among foods that cause inflammation. In general, its risk increases due to the so-called Western diet – a diet consisting mostly of semi-finished and ready-to-eat industrial products.

“Fats, trans fats, meat, fried potatoes, dumplings, sausage – this list The list goes on for a long time: such food provokes inflammation and stimulates the development of oxidative stress,” Myasnikov said.
To combat inflammation, he emphasized, you need to eat more foods with antioxidants in the form of vegetables and fruits, berries, nuts, legumes, whole grains, a variety of cabbage.

“Antioxidants mean vitamins, in particular vitamins A, C , E and flavonoids, which are contained in a lot of natural products,” the specialist stated.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that nutritionist Mikhail Ginzburg called soy meat a product that helps prolong life.
