Nutritionist Tatyana Meshcheryakova told how much lard is good to eat.

Nutritionist and expert in healthy eating Tatyana Meshcheryakova advised Russians not to give up quality fats. In particular, in a conversation with Izvestia, she drew attention to the fact that human health can be effectively strengthened by the correct use of such a product as lard. The doctor noted that it contains essential and necessary monounsaturated fatty acids for the body – for example, oleic and linoleic. In addition, lard is a source of vitamins that are essential for the immune system, as well as macro- and microelements (including selenium, which improves the body's defense against cancer).

“Vitamin D, which is responsible for calcium metabolism in the body and maintaining immunity, is found in lard in large quantities. It is also rich in vitamins A and group B, contains a wide range of macro- and microelements such as sodium, sulfur, phosphorus, zinc, selenium,” the expert listed.
Meshcheryakova emphasized that it is necessary to consume quality fats in adequate quantities, since they participate in the processes of building new cellular structures (specifically, the cellular membrane, which is the cell membrane). In addition, fats are necessary for the healthy functioning of the lungs, and also play an important role in the digestion process.

“It is fats that stimulate bile flow well, ensure the excretion of bile, the breakdown and absorption of nutrients, and the full activation of pancreatic enzymes,” the nutritionist explained.
How to eat lard correctly? According to Meshcheriaova, you should give preference to fresh, salted, rendered lard, and avoid smoked lard. In case of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, its use should be discussed with a doctor. Overweight people should not eat more than 20 grams per week.

“Due to the high calorie content of lard, healthy people should limit its consumption to 15–20 grams per day, preferably adding it to the diet at lunchtime, no later than 6:00 p.m.”
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote about what doctors say about the use of lard by people who have had a heart attack or stroke.
