Doctor Dilyara Lebedeva advised Russians to avoid carbohydrate breakfasts.
Doctor Lebedeva shared her professional opinion on what foods breakfast should consist of. The doctor stated that the first meal should not contain a lot of carbohydrates. Milk porridge, baked goods and other carbohydrate products for breakfast, consumed day after day, destroy the pancreas, forcing it to work to the point of exhaustion, producing a large amount of insulin, the specialist warned.
“Morning is the time of counter-insular hormones, which increase glucose levels. When we add carbohydrates to breakfast (porridge with milk, bread, lots of fruit), we additionally raise glucose levels, forcing the pancreas to produce even more insulin. As a result, the pancreas produces more insulin than necessary,” the doctor explained in her Telegram channel.
Lebedeva noted that after a carbohydrate breakfast, which provokes sharp fluctuations in blood glucose levels, a feeling of hunger quickly arises, prompting you to look for food again, which increases the likelihood of excess weight.
Low-carbohydrate breakfasts are optimal, the expert emphasized. What can you eat at the same time? Lebedeva listed: eggs, fish or lean meat, cottage cheese without added sugar, vegetables, and greens are suitable for breakfast that will not provoke dangerous changes in glucose levels.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote about why fermented foods must be included in the daily diet.
