Gastroenterologist Yulia Fedorova: lard contains selenium, which affects the quality and duration of human life.
Doctor Fedorova said that reasonable consumption of lard is useful for strengthening health and prolonging life. In a commentary to the TV channel “First Pskovsky”, the doctor noted that lard is useful due to the content of life-prolonging selenium – a substance considered one of the most important for the active functioning of the immune system. Yulia Fedorova stated that selenium contained in lard affects the quality and duration of life, and its deficiency can lead to the development of certain diseases.
“In moderate quantities, lard is especially useful for athletes and people with increased physical activity, as it is high in calories. For an adult, the daily norm of lard consumption is no more than 30 grams,” the specialist specified.
As reported by informpskov.ru, the expert advised avoiding the consumption of smoked lard. Smoked products are currently assessed as potential carcinogens: in particular, smoked lard is a product that can cause stomach cancer.
Who should avoid lard despite its benefits? The product is not recommended for people with chronic colitis, gallstone disease, hepatitis, cardiovascular diseases, including atherosclerosis.
