Therapist and nutritionist Polina Vasilyeva said that a proper diet effectively helps in the fight against chronic stress.

Therapist Vasilyeva said that there are products that improve stress resistance.

“A balanced diet serves as a source of substances that increase the body's adaptation and stress resistance, as well as replenishing the deficiency of nutrients that it actively uses up in stressful situations,” the expert shared with the Doctor Peter portal.
Vasilyeva specified that for mental health and strengthening the nervous system, it is especially useful to eat several food groups:

  • Fermented: natural yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, kombucha, kimchi.
  • Rich in polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids: fatty sea fish, seafood, avocado, flax seeds, vegetable oils;
  • Containing fiber: whole grains, vegetables and fruits, legumes, nuts and seeds;
  • Rich in magnesium: cereals, leafy greens, seaweed, legumes, almonds, bananas, dark chocolate;
  • Containing the amino acid tryptophan: cheese, eggs, meat, fish, bananas.

The doctor noted that the use of these products and substances has a positive effect on brain function and the production of hormones that determine reactions to stress. Vasilyeva added that in order to maintain a stable psyche, one should avoid drinking alcohol, large doses of caffeine, artificial preservatives and dyes.

Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that a deficiency of certain microelements provokes a strong craving for sweets.
