“Foods that slowly kill the heart include margarine and products containing it (cookies, chips, cakes), sausage, canned food, fast food,” cardiologist Sokolov shared with Moslenta.
The doctor stated that the listed products contain trans fats – cheap modified vegetable fats that can take on a solid form. The consumption of such fats is associated with the occurrence of the problem of high cholesterol and the development of atherosclerosis.

“If you want cookies for tea, it’s better to spend a little time and bake them yourself – from those products that you are confident in the quality,” commented the cardiologist.
Also, Sokolov added, consuming large amounts of saturated fat contained in meat is harmful to heart health , milk, butter, cheeses. Their uncontrolled consumption contributes to the increase in deposits of atherosclerotic plaques in the vessels, which increases the risk of stroke.

Denis Sokolov emphasized that the amount of fat consumed daily should not exceed the physiological norm.

“An adult man, depending on height, weight and level of physical activity, needs from 70 to 154 grams of fat per day, a woman – from 60 up to 102 grams,” the expert specified.
The cardiologist named excessively consumed simple carbohydrates, starch, flavorings, and salt in quantities of more than a teaspoon per day as other substances harmful to the heart.
