Urologist Alexander Panferov: increasing frequency of urination may indicate dangerous diseases.
Urologist Panferov named the normal frequency of urges to urinate in a conversation with Lenta.ru and explained what is hidden behind frequent urination.
“In a healthy adult, the appearance of the urge to urinate once every 3-4 hours is considered normal, but if the frequency of trips to the toilet increases, this may indicate dangerous diseases,” the doctor said.
Panferov emphasized: if a person constantly feels the need to visit the toilet, he must immediately consult a doctor. He drew attention to the fact that in men and women, such a symptom may manifest itself in the following diseases:
- Diabetes mellitus;
- Infections or tuberculosis of the urinary system;
- Venereal diseases;
- Tumors;
- Urolithiasis;
- Neurological disorders.
The urologist specified which pathologies are expressed externally by frequent urination in representatives of both sexes.
- In men, this is adenoma or prostate cancer, prostatitis, inflammation of the seminal tubercle.
- In women – tumors or inflammation of the uterus and appendages or vagina, hormonal imbalances, inflammation of the glands of the vestibule of the vagina, urethra.
The doctor strongly recommended not to self-medicate this disorder. If frequent urination occurs, it is important to establish its underlying cause – only a medical specialist can do this.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote about why men have the urge to urinate at night.
