Their supply is depleted and aging: gynecologist Kasyan gave advice on freezing eggs

Gynecologist Victoria Kasyan: each woman has a certain reserve of eggs, which are used up during life and are not replenished.

Gynecologist Kasyan reminded that the number of eggs in different women is not the same, since it is determined by their individual, genetic characteristics. Newborn girls have millions of eggs, but throughout life their supply depletes and ages, and genetics influence when it finally runs out and menopause occurs (some women stop having regular periods soon after age 40, while others continue into their 50s).

Kasyan noted that the “golden age,” when a woman has many healthy eggs that are ideal for having children, is the period of life from 20 to 30 years.

“Young eggs are best for having children, when women do not yet have any somatic diseases. At 40+, the chances are already low, the eggs are of poor quality, there are few of them. And for women (especially those who are overweight, have hypertension, high sugar) getting pregnant becomes problematic, and the child still needs to be carried, given birth, and then raised. Therefore, we always tell our patients that they need to give birth before 35-37 years old,” the doctor explained in a comment to 74.ru.
Speaking about the possibility of preserving healthy eggs, gynecologist Kasyan gave advice on freezing them. According to the expert, ideally this should be done before reaching 30 years of age and certainly not later than 37 years. In more mature years of life, active aging processes and depletion of the egg supply are already underway, the doctor warned. Freezing such cells is virtually useless.

Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote about a case where a Russian woman gave birth to her first child at the age of 51.
