Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation Andrei Osipov reported that the initial stage of alcohol addiction can take up to five years.
Doctor Osipov noted that the development of alcoholism can begin with harmless and seemingly insignificant use of alcohol.
“Even a slight passion for alcohol can develop into an addiction that is very difficult to get rid of, so it is so important to immediately recognize its first signs,” the doctor said in a commentary to the portal “Moscow Region Today”.
Osipov added that the desire to drink alcohol throughout the day indicates the onset of alcoholism. At the same time, the behavior of addicts changes after drinking: they behave noisily, loudly, talk a lot.
“The first sign is the desire to drink a lot, to get drunk. Next is the habit of relieving stress with alcohol whenever any situation arises,” Andrey Osipov shared.
The doctor drew attention to the fact that the development of addiction can be influenced by genetic predisposition, general health, and metabolic state.
