Explaining in an interview who should not sleep without a pillow, Kabychkin noted that this should not be done for people with a headache. In addition, the pillow must be used by people with disorders in the health of the spine (especially with disorders in the cervical spine).

“Sleep without a pillow is contraindicated for those who suffer from cervical osteochondrosis, cervical radiculopathy, herniated disc of the cervical spine , vascular diseases associated with the vertebral artery,” Kabychkin said in an interview with Sputnik radio.
The specialist added that it is more useful for people with these deviations to use not an ordinary pillow, but a special orthopedic product.

Also, Kabychkin expressed the opinion that even those who do not suffer from the listed pathologies should sleep with a pillow. The chiropractor warned that the rejection of it is bad for the state of the brain.

The doctor clarified that the cervical the spine has a natural curvature, and it must “fill in” to provide support to the neck – in this case, the vessels passing through the neck do not experience unnecessary stress, are not at risk of spasms and fully nourish the brain with blood.
