The cause of cirrhosis of the liver may not be alcohol at all

The development of cirrhosis of the liver is not always the result of alcohol abuse, says Elena Malysheva, doctor of medicine, processor.

The famous Russian “TV doctor” Elena Malysheva called a myth the assertion that cirrhosis of the liver can only be in people who drink. The doctor noted that in modern conditions, alcohol abuse is not statistically a key factor in the development of a deadly liver disease.

“Alcohol is not the main cause of liver cirrhosis,” said Elena Malysheva.
According to the expert, the most common cause of cirrhosis today is obesity associated with unhealthy diets and inactivity. In cases where the liver undergoes fatty hepatosis, the concentration of fatty components in its tissue increases, which increases the likelihood of inflammation. In the inflammatory process, the liver loses its ability to regenerate damaged cells and get rid of toxins in a timely manner. As a result, it coarsens and hardens, becomes prone to scarring. Fibrosis occurs, which, under the influence of adverse circumstances, passes into the pathological stage, which is irreversible – cirrhosis.

“In the cold season, people begin to move less and eat more high-calorie foods. This negatively affects the liver and causes fatty degeneration of the organ,” warned Elena Malysheva.
The doctor called for healthy habits in order to keep the liver in shape.

Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that an unhealthy liver may be profuse hair loss.
