Surgeon Kallagov said in an interview that when lung cancer develops, a person often does not feel any discomfort for a long time.
“It often happens that the patient is not bothered by anything, and the disease is discovered during a random diagnosis,” the doctor shared with Izvestia.
Kallagov added that the factors that usually cause this type of cancer are harmful working conditions, age (over 60 years old), and smoking (including e-cigarettes). In addition, lung cancer often occurs in patients who have already been treated for some kind of oncological disease in the past.
The doctor drew attention to the fact that if a tumor in the lung is detected at an early stage of its development, there is a very high probability that the patient will recover and live a long life.
“Modern technologies make it possible to diagnose lung cancer at the first or second stage – the earlier the disease is found, the greater the chances of recovery,” he said.
The surgeon also advised remembering that a neoplasm detected during a patient examination does not always mean a malignant pathology, cancer.
