Rosacea: what is it and how to prevent it?

rashes on the face
Dermatologist Alexander Bykanov told what rosacea is, why it occurs and how to prevent it.

Redness on the face, spider veins, burning sensation and peeling of the skin. This is rosacea. Have you encountered this problem?

“Rosacea is an inflammatory skin disease. Its exact origin is still unknown, and the variability of manifestations is amazing, ”the specialist notes.
Redness can be either permanent or appearing periodically, from time to time. All this is accompanied by roughness of the skin and a burning sensation.

Sometimes there are forms of rosacea that resemble acne, pustules appear.

The expert notes that this is an independent pathology, and not a symptom or manifestation of some other condition of the body.

Most often, the occurrence of rosacea is provoked by a hereditary predisposition. However, for it to “turn on”, provoking factors are needed: too high or low ambient temperature, wind, aggressive sun, stress, poor-quality cosmetics.

But most often, the trigger for rosacea is too long exposure to the sun. It is this that damages the elastin fibers of the skin.

It is worth noting that people with fair skin are at risk. If the skin is already inflamed or prone to acne, this can aggravate the course of the disease.

“People with rosacea of any severity are advised to avoid aggravating factors and use maximum photoprotection.”
In addition, the doctor recommends choosing softer cleansers, constantly moisturizing the skin.

Treatment in the case of an acute stage of the disease is selected exclusively by a specialist after a thorough examination and history taking. Alexander Bykanov Alexander Bykanov Health Dermatologist
