Radiologist Kivasev explained in an interview the appearance of shock reactions at CT. The doctor said that an allergy to iodine, which is the main active ingredient of the drug used for CT, could be a provocateur of such a reaction on the part of the body. Kivasev noted that many people are allergic to iodine.

“An allergic reaction, up to anaphylactic shock, can indeed develop when a contrast agent is injected during CT. I have repeatedly encountered this in my practice,” the doctor told Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
With regard to MRI, a negative reaction of the body can be caused by contrast agents used during the procedure or their components.

“The mechanism for the development of allergies is such that it can be not only on the active substance, but also on other components, of which there are a great many. Unfortunately, this is unpredictable,” said radiologist Stanislav Kivasev.
The expert added that in some cases, the cause of a sharp deterioration in well-being during some procedures is not medical manipulations, but complications that coincide in time with them. If, for example, a person has a heart attack, this is not due to the fact that the patient was injected with a contrast agent. According to the radiologist, it is impossible to prevent such situations.
