The disease with a new subspecies of coronavirus – “kraken” – is not very dangerous, said Elena Malysheva.

Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Elena Malysheva commented on the threat that the “kraken”, which is a new subspecies of the “omicron” strain, may pose. On January 12, it became known that this variant of the coronavirus appeared in Russia, a resident of the Penza region fell ill with it. Epidemiologists admitted that the “kraken” will become the dominant type of coronavirus infection in the Russian Federation, it is distinguished by the ability to spread rapidly in the human population.

Dr. Malysheva noted that even being very infectious, the new version of the coronavirus does not pose a serious threat –

Elena Malysheva said that antiviral drugs can lead to cancer

“The new omicron subspecies does not cause increased mortality.”
According to the doctor, infection with the kraken can provoke severe forms of the disease in people who are traditionally at risk during infection seasons, these are elderly people with chronic diseases, and overweight, cancer patients, people with weakened immune systems. As for the rest, they do not need to be afraid of the “kraken”. Now for the majority of people, the prevention of influenza is much more relevant, Malysheva emphasized.

Malysheva said that almost everyone will be infected with the coronavirus

“Clinicians do not worry about the“ kraken ”, the disease proceeds easily, like an acute respiratory disease. The new variety of “omicron” did not bring any additional threat. Now influenza viruses are much more terrible,” said the doctor of medical sciences.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that the pulmonologist Alexander Chuchalin called the “rule of three to five days” to prevent pneumonia.
