Cardiologist Zaurbek Shugushev: a heart attack in a 45-year-old person is by no means nonsense today – why did the age of heart attacks become so much younger?

Cardiologist Shugushev explained in a conversation with Life.ru, explained the strong rejuvenation of the age of heart attacks that has occurred over the past 20 years. According to the doctor, the key reason that today people aged 40-45 are increasingly becoming victims of heart attacks is that “life has become much faster and more stressful.”

Shugushev emphasized: stress has an extremely negative effect on the health of the cardiovascular system. It is under its influence that in many cases a plaque (a formation of cholesterol and calcium on the inner wall of a vessel) ruptures, which clogs the heart artery, preventing blood from flowing to the heart and thereby causing necrotic damage to its tissue.

“First, plaques grow on a person, he does not notice them, then severe stress – because of this, the plaque ruptures and a heart attack occurs,” the cardiologist said.
In addition, Shugushev added, excessive consumption of everything harmful – primarily alcohol and nicotine – becomes too much of a burden for the heart. The blood vessels and heart suffer especially badly in men.

“A man after 40 years of age is already in the risk zone for heart attack and stroke,” the doctor stated.
According to Shugushev, men over 40 should have an annual check-up with a cardiologist – this is one of the most effective ways to prevent dangerous heart (and brain) pathologies. Women should periodically visit a cardiologist after 50. Such preventive examinations are very important – cardiovascular diseases often have no precursors, the expert said.

Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote about whether it is necessary to undergo treatment if a person's pulse is 90-100 beats per minute.
