Oncologist Vorobyov: “vague” pain that signals bowel cancer

Oncologist Vorobyov:

Cancer is a devastating disease that can affect all parts of the body. However, some types of cancer are more common than others, including bowel cancer, a disease that is receiving more attention in 2022.

Colon cancer is one of the four most common cancers along with with breast, prostate and lung cancer.

“Everyone should quite rightly check their feces for signs of illness, their symptoms are not limited to discharge. Other symptoms of bowel cancer that do not show up in a bowel movement include signs that they describe as vague. Symptoms include a dull ache in the abdomen, fatigue and anemia. This is a condition in which the body does not have enough healthy red blood cells to carry oxygen around the body,” oncologist Andrey Vorobyov says specifically for MedicForum.
In the early stages bowel cancer, also known as colon cancer, often causes no symptoms. Early detection also means the cancer is less likely to spread to nearby lymph nodes and other organs.

This message about early diagnosis and early detection is important for all cancer patients. Once the cancer metastasizes and spreads, it becomes much more difficult to treat.

The main symptoms of bowel cancer:

• Constant blood in the stool
• Constant changes in habits intestines
• Persistent pain in the lower abdomen
