Oncologist Elena Smirnova pointed out the signals of gastrointestinal disorders that warn of possible colorectal cancer.

Oncologist Smirnova spoke about the symptoms that can be noticed during the development of bowel cancer. She advised to see a doctor if a person regularly experiences abdominal pain, heartburn and nausea that are not associated with a change in diet or overeating.

Two other potentially dangerous symptoms mentioned by the oncologist are bloating (with a feeling of heaviness) in the abdomen and upset stool. The latter problem, according to the specialist, is often one of the first signals of the development of bowel cancer.

“The greatest concern is a long-term bowel disorder, especially with blood. According to the results of a study involving about 25 million people, the presence of blood in the stool and abdominal pain are what patients with colorectal cancer first noted,” Smirnova said on her Telegram channel.
Also, the oncologist added, it is necessary to undergo an examination if a person has begun to lose weight without limiting himself in food, or if for unknown reasons his appetite has sharply decreased, and in addition to everything, there are episodes of fever that cannot be explained by a cold or other infection.

Elena Smirnova drew attention to the fact that colon cancer can develop for a long time practically asymptomatically, and the development of a malignant process can be noticed only through preventive examinations.

“At the age of 40-45, you should get checked even if nothing bothers you. We are talking about visiting a gastroenterologist, proctologist, examining the stomach and intestines. This is especially important if there is a burdened heredity for malignant diseases,” the oncologist stated.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that cancer can be considered a contagious disease – why, explained the doctor Alexander Myasnikov.
