Oncologist Pikulin answered NEWS.ru's question about which types of cancer can be detected at an early stage, when malignant tumors are still very small and respond well to treatment. The doctor explained that for these cases in oncology there is a concept called “cancer in situ”.
“Most often, cancer at stage zero is found on the mucous membrane of the cervix, oral cavity, stomach and intestines. It is also possible to detect a tumor in situ in the mammary gland, in the prostate and on the skin,” he shared.
Pikulin added that early detection of cancer is possible either by chance or as a result of preventive examinations. There are no specific symptoms at stage zero of formations. Given this, you should periodically visit doctors for examinations, such preventive examinations on a regular basis are especially important in middle age, after 40-45 years.
