Stroke can occur when atmospheric pressure fluctuations exceed 20 units, neurologist Alexey Kudryashov said.

In the Moscow region, there will be noticeable fluctuations in atmospheric pressure for several days – it is expected that its differences will amount to 10 points of the atmospheric column and more. It is very likely that many people will feel worse because of this.

But can such pressure surges in the atmosphere provoke life-threatening conditions?

Neurologist Alexey Kudryashov shared the answer to the question from aif.ru. The doctor confirmed: when the pressure on the Earth changes too sharply, the risk of suffering from a stroke becomes quite real.

Kudryashov explained at what fluctuations in atmospheric pressure a stroke occurs.

“The human cardiovascular and nervous systems react to fluctuations in atmospheric pressure. Science has proven that a change of over 20 units increases the incidence of certain types of stroke,” the doctor shared.
Kudryashov noted that the most sensitive to such changes are the so-called weather-dependent people. But this kind of dependence is usually a consequence of existing chronic diseases – primarily cardiovascular diseases or, for example, diabetes. On “difficult” days, they should monitor their condition more closely to prevent unwanted exacerbation.

What the doctor advises:

  • Follow a sleep schedule;
  • Rest more;
  • Eat well;
  • Avoid stress, reschedule your activities for another time;
  • Breathe more fresh air, go for walks;
  • Try to do things that bring relaxation and peace.
