Alekhine neurologist: new Alzheimer's drug could be the beginning of the end of brain disease

Initial trial results show new drug could slow dementia progression by 36 percent.

Last year, a trial of another drug called lecanemab was shown to slow the progression of symptoms by 27 percent by blocking the formation of amyloid plaques in the brain.

These two drugs are the first to successfully delay the progression of Alzheimer's after decades of failed trials.

“Future drugs targeting tau and amyloid could further slow this mind-numbing condition. Side effects effects such as cerebral edema and bleeding have previously been associated with such drugs.”
Major systemic changes may be required for drugs to be widely available even in 5-10 years.
