Antipyretic drugs, if taken incorrectly, can adversely affect the hematopoietic and digestive systems, doctors warn.

Russian doctors called in an interview with Izvestia the dangerous consequences of improper use of antipyretic drugs. One of the specialists, cardiologist Denis Prokofiev, stated that the incorrect use of these drugs increases the risk of damage to the gastrointestinal tract, whose mucous membrane is very sensitive to their components. Also, the consequences of improper intake of antipyretics can be the development of bronchial asthma.

“Another danger is that these drugs can affect the hematopoietic system and cause severe damage if used incorrectly,” said cardiologist Prokofiev.
Another interlocutor of the publication, doctor Maria Snegotskaya, also noted the need to follow the instructions exactly when taking these drugs. In particular, she emphasized that it is important to observe the exact dosage of antipyretics – both when they are taken by adults and children.

“If a child was given too much of the drug by mistake, you should immediately induce vomiting and give sorbents,” the doctor advised. Their long-term use is associated with the accumulation of a toxic effect. For its prevention, it is better to alternate different means, the doctor shared.
