Kissing can lead to gonorrhea

Kissing can lead to gonorrhea
Touching partners with lips can have the most unexpected consequences that you don't even want to think about. Scientists from Melbourne have found that gonorrhea is transmitted through kissing.

A survey of over 2,000 men in Melbourne showed that gonorrhea can be transmitted without any contact with the genitals of a sexual partner. This completely reverses the picture of the spread of the disease that science has had in the last 100 years. Traditionally it was believed that the spread of gonorrhea occurs through coital and oral sex, but it is now established that a fairly large number of this pathogen lives in the throat.

Scientists have found out what kisses are for

The researchers tested another line of possible transmission routes and found that kissing is a significant risk factor for gonorrhea in the throat. People who carry this disease in the throat often do not have any symptoms, so they spread the infection without realizing it.

Gonorrhea is now more likely to be contracted through kissing

If gonorrhea gets to the genitals, symptoms such as itching, bleeding, discharge or swelling appear. Gays and bisexuals, as well as people who often change sexual partners, are at the highest risk. But even among heterosexual men and women, the number of sexually transmitted diseases is on the rise. (READ MORE) University of Melbourne
