“It happens that a vessel spasms without plaques”: cardiologist Marshintseva named the causes of a heart attack

heart attack
Cardiologist Yulia Marshinceva warned: worries and stress are quite capable of provoking heart attacks.

Cardiologist Marshintseva reminded that a heart attack or infarction develops as a complication of coronary heart disease. The main factor in its occurrence is atherosclerotic plaques that arise in the cavities of blood vessels, grow and block their space, disrupting the blood flow to the myocardium. The appearance and growth of such plaques in the vessels occurs especially intensively in some diseases, including obesity, hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol). People with these pathologies are more susceptible to heart attacks.

At the same time, the cardiologist added, the risk of a heart attack can also increase in cases where there is no atherosclerosis or plaques in the vessels.

“It happens that there are no plaques, but the vessel spasms. Most often, this happens against the background of stress, anxiety, more often in women,” the doctor named the possible cause of a heart attack in a comment to RIA Novosti.
Also, Marshintseva noted, the tendency to cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks, can be determined by genetics. In particular, the development of hypercholesterolemia in people who adhere to a completely healthy diet is explained by a genetic cause. In their case, medication will be required, since the level of cholesterol, from which plaques are formed, cannot be normalized by diet alone.

The doctor drew attention to the fact that in case of myocardial infarction, it is important to hospitalize the patient as soon as possible and install a stent – this will allow the heart muscle, without undergoing necrosis, to return to its normal functioning.

Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote about what pathology is indicated by too large a difference between the upper and lower blood pressure.
