In what case can a person get sick due to hypothermia: doctor Prodeus

cold weather
Hypothermia as such cannot cause SARS, but it is really possible to get sick after freezing, doctors state.

Can a person get sick when he – for a draft or eaten ice cream, chilled during a street walk? Russian immunologist Andrei Prodeus shared the answer to the question.

The doctor noted that hypothermia can only threaten relatively healthy people with discomfort.

“There is an opinion that it can blow through, that air conditioning or a draft cause illness. Many people still think so. This is a myth,” Prodeus said.
The physician emphasized that the disease occurs when its pathogen enters the body, affecting cells that are not able to defend against it. Such a pathogen can be a virus, bacterium, fungus.“If there is no pathogen in the body, then hypothermia itself, including drinking cold water or cold ice cream, will not lead to the development of the disease,” the immunologist emphasized.
At the same time, hypothermia can be a provoking factor in the development of the disease if there is a chronic infectious focus in the body – for example, a person has untreated caries or other problems in the oral cavity, chronic tonsillitis, ear infections. The fact is that in cold conditions, the body turns on responses – as a result, pathogens “dormant” in it can become more active, which will cause a disease.
