Orthopedic surgeon Wanda Wright told at what age many people learn about the life-threatening diseases they have.
Doctor Wright named the age at which people are most often diagnosed with fatal diseases (reported by the British publication Mirror). According to the specialist, this happens in most cases at 63 years of age.
“If you believe the average figures, when a person retires, he is most often diagnosed with one of the deadly diseases – lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, breast cancer or prostate cancer,” the doctor said.
Wright noted that the age mentioned is usually not the time of the immediate onset of diseases. Many deadly diseases are characterized by gradual development, they are characterized by periods of slow progressive development with weak, almost indistinguishable symptoms. The prerequisites for their occurrence often exist unnoticed for decades, the doctor emphasized. Given this feature of diseases, it is extremely important to begin to engage in their prevention in advance, the specialist is convinced.
Wright said that it is too late to think about preventing dangerous pathologies only after retirement. The doctor advised doing it before turning 40, which she called a “critical age”, since it is during these years that changes occur in the body that lead to the formation of tumors and other life-threatening abnormalities. For their prevention, it is extremely important to undergo periodic examinations and tests, the doctor stated.
“40 years is a critical age for getting your health in order. If you decide to take on this at 63, it will be much more difficult for you,” said Wanda Wright.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that doctor Regina Akhunyanova explained why many people can experience a sharp deterioration in their health after 30 years.
