Doctor Ulankina: Ovarian cancer that has developed can be confused with fatigue or depression

Gynecologist Olga Ulankina: when ovarian cancer develops, women may feel like they are just feeling down.

Doctor Ulankina warned that ovarian cancer that has developed can be confused with a state of emotional depression, depression, or fatigue. Noticing these symptoms, women may think that their condition is related to stress, overwork, or lack of sleep.

“The first symptoms of ovarian cancer can often be perceived as fatigue or stress syndromes. The disease gains momentum almost imperceptibly: general weakness may appear, appetite disappears,” the gynecologist told Izvestia.
Ulankina added that when the tumor begins to grow, symptoms such as bloating and nagging abdominal pain, similar to the discomfort felt during menstruation, may occur. Women who notice such symptoms should seek examination.

The doctor noted that although this disease is most often diagnosed at the age of over 60, it can appear at almost any age. Presumably, the risk of ovarian cancer becomes high if a woman starts menstruating early or if she has never been pregnant. Obesity, smoking, and long-term hormone therapy also affect susceptibility to it.

Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that back pain can be a symptom of different types of cancer.
