Endocrinologist Kamilya Tabeeva named two periods with sharply worsening age-related changes.
Aging is a complex process that is associated with numerous changes in the body and is closely related to genetics. People age differently, but nevertheless, there are two age periods when sharp aging occurs in almost everyone, – doctor Tabeeva told Gazeta.Ru.
“The peak of age-related changes occurs in two periods of life: 40-45 years and about 60 years,” the specialist clarified.
Tabeeva reported what happens to the human body during these periods of life.
What happens at 40-45 years:
- The processes of processing caffeine, alcohol and fats slow down;
- The skin becomes less elastic and flexible;
- Vascular tissue becomes more rigid and the risk of damage increases;
- The likelihood of developing cardiovascular diseases increases.
What happens after 60 years:
- Cell sensitivity to insulin decreases;
- Glucose metabolism is disrupted;
- Cardiovascular risks become even higher;
- Kidney function deteriorates;
- The body's immune defense decreases.
The doctor noted that these processes cause aging, making it more intense and noticeable. Moreover, Tabeeva added, the aging process is not limited to these changes; there are many more of them. For example, the two periods mentioned are also characterized by loss of muscle mass.
Is it possible to slow down aging? According to Tabeeva, there is no clear answer to this question. If we talk about the preventive measures proposed by scientists, they are as follows:
“By the age of 40, it is important to reduce the consumption of fatty foods and alcohol, and increase the consumption of fiber. At the age of 60, drink enough water, monitor the condition of the kidneys and blood glucose levels. To maintain muscle, including maintaining heart health, you should exercise, selecting loads in accordance with the condition of the body – to avoid overloads and injuries.”
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that the beginning of physical aging is the period when the body loses muscle mass.
