Therapist Tatyana Romanenko spoke about the dangerous mistakes made when taking painkillers.

Doctor Romanenko explained in an interview that various painkillers have an effect aimed at reducing inflammation. These drugs suppress the production of inflammation-provoking substances, which leads to a decrease in pain and fever.

At the same time, the specialist noted that different analgesics act on different parts of the body, and the choice of a particular drug should be made by a doctor.

“Where do they act (in the central nervous system or on the periphery), how quickly, what dose, indications, contraindications – here the nuances begin, so you need to choose the drug together with the doctor,” Tatiana Romanenko said.
The therapist stated that when people take painkillers on their own, they often make mistakes that can be very dangerous because of the consequences.

The doctor called taking two pills at once as one of these mistakes. Romanenko recalled that the drug taken does not give an instant effect, its effect appears only after a while (from 30 to 60 minutes). If the pain lasts longer, you can take another pill, but first you need to read the instructions, which indicate the allowable daily dose of the drug.

Another mistake is taking painkillers on an empty stomach. In this case, the mucosa of the digestive organ, which is at risk of developing erosions and ulcers, can be seriously affected.

Cardiologist Serebryansky: what threatens the wrong intake of drugs for pressure

“When we take pills in large dosages on an empty stomach, we risk getting superficial bleeding from small vessels. Ulcers can also form, and this increases the risk of diffuse bleeding, which leads to death,” said Tatiana Romanenko.
She added that today pharmacists offer drugs for pain that do not harm the digestive tract as much. However, their use is associated with the risks of dangerous vascular disorders, including the formation of blood clots and increased pressure (up to the development of a hypertensive crisis). You can use these painkillers only on the recommendation of a doctor.
