Dietitian Elena Solomatina: garlic is an effective anticoagulant and helps with colds, but some people should not eat it.

Dietitian Solomatina noted in interview that if there are no contraindications to the use of garlic, then the vegetable can be used as a means of supporting the body in the fight against viruses.

“Garlic contains many different vitamins, and also contains unique essential oils that repel potential viruses. I recommend eating garlic during a cold,” Solomatina said, talking with Vechernyaya Moskva.
The nutritionist clarified that no more than one slice (raw) should be eaten per day.

At the same time, time to remember: not everyone can eat a spicy vegetable. With existing problems with the gastrointestinal tract, garlic is contraindicated due to the action of its essential oils on the mucous membrane of the digestive tract: these compounds contribute to severe irritation and cause uncomfortable, painful symptoms, exacerbate chronic pathologies.

Also, Solomatina confirmed that garlic has the ability to thin the blood, and as a natural anticoagulant, it is very useful for atherosclerosis.

Who can harm garlic

“However, if a person does not need to thin the blood, but, on the contrary, coagulate it, then garlic should be completely excluded from the diet,” the expert emphasized.
