According to dermatovenereologist Elena Bystritskaya, infection with chlamydia and gonorrhea is possible only through unprotected sexual contact.
Elena Bystritskaya, candidate of medical sciences, commented on the data, published recently by the British newspaper Daily Mail, about how you can get chlamydia and gonorrhea in everyday life. The article of the British edition told about the research of Professor Eric Chow, who came to the conclusion that the above-mentioned infections can be transmitted between people through kissing.
According to dermatovenereologist Elena Bystritskaya, such transmission of infections through kissing is practically impossible. Their pathogens, chlamydia and gonococci, cannot be stable in the external environment and quickly die.
“Gonococci are viable for some time in pus and mucus, which suggests a non-sexual route of infection, but it is difficult to imagine kissing a person with similar external manifestations. When gonococci enter the bloodstream, even in this case, they are quickly neutralized and die due to the activation of the body's immune defenses, as a result of which they do not spread throughout the body, ”the physician explained to Izvestiya.
Chlamydia and gonorrhea are transmitted by unprotected sexual intercourse, the doctor emphasized. If you had sex without using a condom, with a new partner, then you need to be examined to exclude infection with dangerous infections.
